What is Alot Toolbar?

Alot is a series of toolbars each based on a different subject ranging from music, videos, and news all the way to parenting information and recipes. Each toolbar gives specific organic and paid search results for the specific topic. The toolbar also provides error redirection to show links for potentially correct pages and search results for misspelled web addresses. The toolbar(s) are free to all users, and the company earns income from the advertisement revenues on the toolbar and search results.

The toolbar does change your homepage to alot.com, although there doesn't appear to be any spyware or malicious adware installed with the alot toolbar. Although the Alot toolbar does have additional buttons on the toolbar linking to their various sponsors.

How Do I Know If I Have Alot Installed?

You'll notice a toolbar similar to the following in your browser if Alot is installed on your computer.



If you run Hijackthis, you'll also notice the following lines that have been added:

How Do I Remove Alot?

1) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel

2) Double click on Add/Remove Programs

3) Find "ALOT Toolbar" in the list of installed programs and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it.


Follow along with the prompts to complete the uninstall.

4) With HijackThis, scan for and fix any of the entries shown above that may be remaining.

5) The Alot toolbar should now be completely uninstalled from your computer.
