WinsockFix is a tool originally created by a company called
Option^Explicit used to fix internet connectivity issues. Its often a
last resort fix to correct registry corruption that leads to a loss of
internet connection.
Many times adware and malware can corrupt
your Windows system. When these products are removed, you no longer
have access to the Internet. Using this software, can many times
restore internet access and fix any problems in the registry that have
caused the loss of connectivity.
Although the program does not
appear to be actively supported by its original company any longer, it
is still one of the best program to restore internet connectivity when
everything else has failed.

After you have downloaded WinsockFix to your desktop, double-click on it to view the main menu (shown below)
You
may wish to backup the Windows registry first by clicking on the
ReG-Backup button and then choosing a directory to save a registry
backup in.
To run the program, simply click on the Fix button on the main menu, and choose Yes to run the fix.
The
program will proceed to remove and restore registry keys that may be
corrupt, along with resetting the Hosts file. Then it will ask you to
reboot your computer. Click OK to reboot.
After the computer reboots, try your internet connection and everything should be fine.
Notes:
This
program will often times repair problems that are network related but
dont seem to be. Before reformatting your computer because of issues,
please try this program. It just may solve the issue and save you
countless hours of reinstalling programs.
The Winsockfix Utility will:
- Detect your current Operating System
- Release the IP address, taking you "Offline"
- Reset the TCP stack using Netsh.exe (Windows XP only)
- Delete the current Registry TCP and Winsock Values
- Import new "Working" Registry Values
- Backup any Current "Hosts" file
- Replace the "Hosts" file with a default one
- Reboot the Computer
