Spyware and Adware have been a problem on the Internet since I created this site back in 1997. You dont get something for nothing. Remember that when downloading a free program or game off the Internet. Generally, these programs come with a price. They collect market research from the customer or display ads to the customer in exchange for running the free program. Some adware I can put up with, but most is absolutely annoying and one of the reasons I started this site a long time ago. I've had cease and desist orders from Hotbar and Incredimail, letters from WildTangent, and more, but I try to provide step by step directions for people who would like to remove these programs.

Although some of these companies and programs have gone out of business, many still remain or have morphed and changed names. I sometimes will get into trouble by saying its spyware or adware when in fact I should classify it as unwantedware, programs I simply do not wish to have on my computer and I want to uninstall.
